PBIS

North Ranchito is in the second year of implementing Positive Behavior Intervention and Support (PBIS). Our PBIS motto is “Be Responsible, Respectful, & Safe.” The goal of PBIS is to teach and reward positive behavior and to encourage a positive atmosphere throughout our school. At North Ranchito we have three primary School-Wide Expectations that your children are learning now: Be Respectful, Be Responsible, and Be Safe. For each of these expectations, we have a few specific rules that must be followed in each area of the school. When your child or your child’s class is “caught” following the rules listed, they have the opportunity to earn a “Puma Pride ” ticket, which will be entered into a drawing for a prize.  Students who have difficulty meeting the school-wide expectations will take part in small group interventions and encouragement so that all of our students can experience a positive school environment.

The primary concern is to create and foster a safe learning environment where everyone has access to achieve his or her greatest potential.  This safe environment will allow all students the opportunity to grow academically, socially, and emotionally.  By having a structured discipline policy, the students are allowed to develop good self-worth by giving them decision-making opportunities.  North Ranchito Elementary School Students who have consistent and realistic consequences for their actions learn that they have positive control over their lives.

Our discipline policy spells out expected behaviors and consequences, and it helps all of our students develop self-control and self-discipline both in and out of a school setting.  We want all students to learn responsibility for their own behavior and to live and work productively with others in a safe and caring school environment.

North Ranchito Elementary School realizes that the parent is the child’s first teacher and remains the most important teacher throughout the formative years.  While society can assume schools should accept their share of accountability for citizenship training, it must be recognized from the outset that schools cannot do the job alone.  The family, community, and preschool experiences of children play a vital role in citizenship training.

Therefore, we feel privileged to be partners with you in the education of your children.  We know that TOGETHER we can provide the best and safest learning and growing environment that will ensure success for all our students.
